Job summary

PACE Global is seeking an experienced Planning Manager to support a major rail infrastructure programme across Leeds, York and Manchester. You will develop, monitor and manage integrated schedules with design, engineering and client stakeholders.

Travel between sites is required; hybrid working may be considered. Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject and proven rail sector delivery are essential.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in planning for UK rail projects.
  • Experience developing, monitoring and managing programme schedules across multi-site schemes.
  • Strong knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update integrated programme schedules across design, consents, procurement and delivery phases.
  • Collaborate with design managers, engineers and project controls to reflect dependencies and critical path.
  • Produce regular progress reports, schedule risk analyses and forecast updates for stakeholders.
  • Identify and escalate schedule risks, delays and resource conflicts; propose mitigations.
  • Support benchmarking, lessons learned and continuous improvement of planning processes.
  • Coordinate with Leeds, York and Manchester offices to ensure consistent planning and data.
  • Contribute planning input to bids, tenders or change control processes.
  • Demonstrate experience in UK rail sector on major infrastructure or enhancement schemes.
  • Present schedule information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to support a major project in the Rail sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring and managing programme schedules across a major rail infrastructure scheme, working closely with design, engineering and client stakeholders across the Leeds, York and Manchester locations. This is a great opportunity for a planning professional with strong rail sector knowledge to contribute to one of the UK's most significant rail investment programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and update integrated programme schedules covering design, consents, procurement and delivery phases of the scheme.
  • Work collaboratively with design managers, engineers and project controls teams to ensure programme logic, dependencies and critical path are accurately reflected.
  • Produce regular progress reports, schedule risk analyses and forecast updates for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Identify and **escalate** schedule risks, delays and resourcing conflicts, proposing mitigation strategies where required.
  • Support the wider planning function in benchmarking, lessons learned and continuous improvement of planning processes.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams across Leeds, York and Manchester offices to ensure consistency of planning approach and data across the programme.
  • Contribute to bid, tender or change control processes where planning input is required.
  • Demonstrable experience working within the UK rail sector, ideally on major infrastructure or enhancement schemes.
  • Strong working knowledge of planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject or similar).
  • Experience managing programmes involving multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams.
  • Right to work in the UK (evidence required as part of the application process).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to present schedule information clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between Leeds, York and Manchester as required.
