Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Planning Enforcement Lead Officer to support senior colleagues in the public sector, providing mentorship and ensuring high-quality customer service. Qualifications

  • Relevant degree to access Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
  • Prepared to study for a vocational management qualification or similar.
  • In-depth understanding of the English Planning System and current legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior colleagues in day-to-day operations.
  • Supervise and mentor assigned staff as needed.
  • Ensure high levels of customer service.
  • Support process improvement initiatives.

Location: Thrapston - Ideally office once a week – flexible

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £58 per hour


Spinwell is recruiting for a Planning Enforcement Lead Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.


Responsibilities of the Planning Enforcement Lead Officer


  • Support senior colleagues and Managers in the Planning Service with all day-to-day operations within the framework of delegated authority and operational guidelines.

  • Supervise, mentor and/or direct assigned staff, and deputise for senior colleagues in staffing matters as required.

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of Personal Development Plans, performance appraisals and reviews for all assigned staff. Annually review job descriptions and to ensure records are kept of all training and development undertaken by staff within the team. Mentoring other team members and deputising for the Lead Planning officers and Managers as required.

  • Ensuring the highest levels of customer service.

  • Support initiatives and all aspects of process improvement and systems review where needed.

  • Take responsibility for personal development and continuous improvement to develop a thorough understanding of current issues, processes, legislation or systems.

  • To maximise personal productivity, minimise errors and produce high quality and timely work outputs.

  • Attendance at evening and weekend meetings/committees.


Skills/Experience Planning Enforcement Lead Officer Job


  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification to allow access to Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent).

  • Management qualification Prepared to study for a vocational management qualification or similar

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of inspection and investigation procedures.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of inspection of PACE & RIPA legislation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of legal proceedings within English legal system.

  • Conversant with planning policy documents, plans, maps and architectural drawings.

  • In depth understanding an extensive experience of the English Planning System, current planning legislation and practice, with a focus on the enforcement of breaches of planning control.

  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise workload and operate under own initiative.

  • Recent experience of working within an enforcement environment
