Description

Summary:

As a Planning Apprentice at G&T, you will support the planning and delivery of construction projects across a range of sectors. Planners play a vital role in helping clients and Project Managers understand project timelines, logistics, and risk mitigation strategies. In this role, you’ll begin to develop the skills needed to contribute to programme development and project coordination, working closely with clients, contractors, and the wider supply chain.

Your apprenticeship:

This is an entry-level position for individuals starting their Planning career journey. You’ll be supported through structured learning and practical experience. You will undertake the Level 4 Town Planning Assistant Apprenticeship, which typically spans two years. As part of this programme, you will be granted student membership with the RTPI. Upon successful completion, you may be eligible to apply for Associate membership of the RTPI. The apprenticeship also provides a pathway to further progression, including the Chartered Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship or other relevant postgraduate programmes, depending on your career aspirations and academic background.

Role Overview:

You will gain hands‑on experience in pre‑construction and construction sequencing, logistics planning, and programme evaluation. Your exposure will span the full project lifecycle—from concept design through to completion—across sectors such as commercial, residential, infrastructure, and lifestyle/culture.

Working within a collaborative team, you will assist your line manager with various aspects of daily work. You’ll be expected to work with a degree of autonomy while knowing when to seek guidance to ensure the best outcomes. This role will help you build a solid knowledge base of your responsibilities, the firm, and the wider industry—and how they all fit together.

You will also be enrolled in the G&T Apprenticeship Programme, which supports the integration of theoretical learning with practical experience. Working within a collaborative team, you will be expected to take initiative, ask questions, and contribute meaningfully to project planning and delivery.
