Town Planning Director - Infrastructure Focus

Location: Flexible across the UK (hybrid working)

The Role

As Town Planning Director, you'll take a leadership role within a highly collaborative planning and design team. You'll lead and grow the infrastructure planning offer, overseeing complex and high-profile projects - from renewable energy and transport to regeneration and large‑scale mixed‑use developments.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic planning advice to clients, stakeholders, and partners
• Leading planning inputs on DCO, NSIP, and major infrastructure projects
• Managing and mentoring a talented team of planners and consultants
• Driving business development and expanding the planning service offering
• Representing the consultancy at public inquiries, stakeholder meetings, and industry events

About You

You're a chartered town planner (MRTPI) with significant experience at senior level, ideally within a consultancy or multidisciplinary environment. You combine strong technical expertise with commercial insight and a collaborative approach.

• Proven experience in leading planning for major infrastructure projects (e.g. energy, transport, utilities, regeneration)
• Excellent client‑facing and business development skills
• A deep understanding of UK planning policy and the consenting process
• Leadership capability - inspiring and developing teams to deliver excellence
• Strategic vision and passion for creating better, more sustainable places
