Job description

Knights Brown is one of the UK's fastest-growing contractors, delivering civil engineering projects across our Wales, Energy and Water divisions.

Our planning team is a central support function working across all three divisions.

We're looking for a Planner to join us in Wessex, primarily supporting our work on the Water frameworks. You'll plan and programme a steady pipeline of water infrastructure projects, with the chance to support other divisions as projects require.

Our core values are at the heart of everything we do, crafting an environment where employees don't just work for us; they grow with us, creating careers that reflect their passions and aspirations.

At Knights Brown, you're not just joining a company; you're becoming part of a family that values your well-being, celebrates your achievements, and supports your growth every step of the way. Dynamic and entrepreneurial, this company is a great fit if you’re looking to work in a supportive but ambitious environment with clear career progression and proactive employee engagement.

Responsibilities include;
  • Developing and managing construction programmes that are realistic, contractually compliant, and reflect how work actually happens on site.
  • Producing and maintaining NEC3/NEC4 programmes for submission and acceptance, and updating them in line with the contract.
  • Monitoring progress on site, identifying delays, and working with the site management team to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Reviewing compensation events and variations, and producing robust evidence to support contractual claims.
  • Supporting commercial teams with programme related input into cost and resource planning.
  • Keeping everyone informed from site teams to clients, with clear progress updates and honest forecasts.
  • Working with our project teams across the Hampshire, Dorset & Salisbury area.
  • Developing tender programmes and supporting the preconstruction team with competitive tenders.
  • Working with our Bridgend & Ringwood Office and sites across the South West, building strong relationships with stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Supporting junior planners and contributing to a collaborative, forward-thinking planning team.
Key requirements;
Essential
  • Experience using either Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6 or MS Project is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable
  • Relevant experience as a Planner is preferred but not essential, ideally a background in engineering or site/project management.
  • Good understanding of contracts.
  • Experience in a range of civil engineering projects.
  • Experience in the Water Sector.

This role is based in the Wessex Region, with regular visits to sites across Hampshire, Dorset & Salisbury.

Knights Brown actively promotes inclusiveness across the workplace, creating an environment where each individual has the equal opportunity to achieve their full potential and where employees feel respected. A diverse and skilled workforce is essential to our success. We are a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant and welcome applications from the Armed Forces Community.
