Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Planner (Assurance) for the M6 Lune Gorge project based in Tebay, Cumbria. The role is on-site, full-time, with a salary in the £55,000–£61,000 range and additional benefits including private healthcare and a £5,900 annual car allowance.

The successful candidate will lead planning assurance, develop robust programmes, monitor progress and identify schedule risks within an integrated planning team on a prestigious highway project.

Qualifications

• Has planning experience on highways, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Understands structures construction, sequencing and temporary works.
• Advanced knowledge of Aphex to develop and review detailed plans.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 for complex schedules and critical path analysis.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining detailed weekly and medium-term project schedules.
• Using Aphex to produce logic-linked, resource-informed delivery plans.
• Reviewing buildability, sequencing and programme logic for bridges and civil works.
• Collaborating with Operations and Commercial teams to align forecasts and progress.
• Supporting programme assurance reviews and risk mitigation.

Job description

We're looking for a Planner (Assurance) to join our M6 Lune Gorge team based in Tebay, Cumbria.

Location: Tebay, Cumbria – onsite 5 days per week

Hours: Permanent Fulltime 45 hours per week

Salary: £55,000 - £61,000 per year + private healthcare + £5,900 annual car allowance + benefits

As a Planner (Assurance) at Kier, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the M6 Lune Gorge project. Working as part of an integrated planning team, you will provide detailed planning assurance, develop robust programmes, monitor progress, identify schedule risks and support the successful execution of complex construction works. What will you be responsible for?

• Developing and maintaining detailed weekly and medium-term project schedules, ensuring clear alignment with project milestones and delivery objectives
• Using Aphex to an advanced level to produce logic-linked, resource informed and fully sequenced delivery plans, identifying dependencies, constraints and critical activities
• Applying structures knowledge to review and challenge the buildability, sequencing and programme logic associated with bridges, structural repairs and related civil engineering activities
• Collaborating with Operational and Commercial teams to align programme forecasts, obtain accurate progress information and support reliable forecasting
• Supporting programme assurance reviews and the QSRA process, identifying schedule risks and opportunities and recommending practical mitigation measures

What are we looking for?

• Has planning experience on major highways, civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally working within an NEC4 contract environment
• Understands structures construction, construction sequencing, temporary works, design interfaces and technical approval processes
• Has advanced knowledge of Aphex and can develop, review and assure detailed construction plans and programmes
• Is highly proficient in Primavera P6, with the ability to create, manage and analyse complex project schedules and critical path programmes
• Communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and can provide clear, evidence-based recommendations while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
