About the Role

Building a sustainable tomorrow – BAM Construct is recruiting a Senior Planner / Planner for its Central region construction business. The regional office is based in Solihull, with an expectation of frequent travel to projects and offices throughout the region.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare design, procurement and construction programmes using Elecosoft PowerProject for pre‑qualifications, tenders and live projects, identifying and selecting appropriate techniques and sequences.
  • Analyse sites and local environments to determine suitable logistics solutions and resources, using specialist planning software such as Synchro.
  • Develop logistics plans and phasing layouts, create method statements and model work in 3D if possible. Schedule labour, major plant and access equipment, including scaffold, tower crane utilisation and temporary works.
  • Attend and present at client interviews; prepare detailed working programmes and agree subcontractor trade programmes.
  • Monitor progress during pre‑construction and construction, compare against projected schedules, report findings and recommend solutions to recover delays.
  • Record events for potential entitlement claims, and use graphical and schedule media to reflect progress, event impacts and forecasts.
  • Maintain liaison and support with the rest of the Project Team, making adjustments to project plans as necessary and providing advice on specific systems.
  • Prepare project and activity feedback reports; develop and mentor junior planning staff; help implement planning appreciation and awareness to site teams.
Qualifications
  • Appropriate training and knowledge in Health & Safety (e.g. CSCS, SMSTS).
  • Energetic, proactive, hands‑on, confident and self‑motivated with experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience in contract and tender planning, capable of leading programme and time management for construction projects.
  • Experience in the construction delivery environment across a range of market sectors, with a good understanding of high‑quality finishes and M&E interfaces.
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts; understanding of contract best practices.
  • Proficient in PowerProject, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word; SketchUp and Synchro advantageous; knowledge of MS Project and Primavera P6 (preferred).
  • 3D/4D modelling experience preferred; excellent communication skills; able to work within a team or independently.
