Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an Assistant Planner to join the Resilience team and support project planning from front-end to detailed scheduling. You will drive baseline schedules, monitor progress, and collaborate with internal and client teams to deliver complex infrastructure and utility projects.

The role involves facilitating discussions across disciplines, applying best practice planning techniques, and contributing to the project management community within Arcadis.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Ability to work unsupervised with sound judgement and clear communication.
  • Comfort speaking with project teams, clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Establish baseline schedules and monitor progress with change control.
  • Provide insight on schedule performance and risks to teams and clients.
  • Engage with stakeholders to develop relationships and relay concise information.
  • Manage schedule change control and maintain audit-ready change history.
  • Adhere to NEC 3/4 Accepted Programme and related contractual procedures.
  • Contribute to communities and initiatives within the project management service line.

The Resilience team is recruiting for a Project Planner to join us and provide planning support, and guidance for our clients and internal teams. As an Assistant Planner in Resilience you should have the capability and confidence to add value at all stages of a project or programme lifecycle – from front-end strategic planning to detailed schedule development and control.

Our projects range from nationally significant infrastructure schemes to mass volume utility works – the role of the Assistant Planner is to steer project teams through the planning and execution phases by applying best practice principles, communicating effectively and collaborating relentlessly.

Role accountabilities
  • Throughout your time as a Planner you will be responsible for;
  • Establishing approved baseline schedules and implement schedule performance monitoring and reporting, with controlled change management and clear communication to teams, clients and stakeholders of progress status and remaining works.
  • Providing valued and focused insight on schedule performance, going beyond checks and calculations, to ensure the project teams know and understand what they need to, are equipped to make informed decisions and are aware of any schedule risks and opportunities.
  • Take a pro‑active approach to cross‑discipline engagement and collaboration to identify and resolve issues and facilitate team success.
  • Engaging with internal and client stakeholders at a working and management level to develop positive relationships and provide relevant, concise information.
  • Managing the schedule change control process, recording change history for audit purposes and all relevant business authorisations.
  • Awareness of, and adherence to contractual procedures relating to contract schedules (i.e. NEC 3 and 4 Accepted Programme) and delays.
  • Active participation and contribution to communities and initiatives across the project and programme management service line and the wider Arcadis business.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Educated to degree level/HND, in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work on tasks unsupervised whilst applying sound judgement to effectively collaborate and communicate with others.
  • Confidence and acumen when speaking to project teams, clients and stakeholders. Ability to facilitate discussions between different disciplines, teams and parties.
  • Understanding and experience of the principles of project / programme management, design, engineering and construction
  • Strong IT Skills, with respect to Excel and Office 365.
  • Experience of Planning Tools, MSP/P6
