Job summary

STRABAG SE in Manchester is seeking a Planner to join the HARP Project. The role will involve preparing and maintaining detailed schedules, coordinating with BIM and design teams, and monitoring critical path performance on site.

You will contribute to risk analysis, progress reporting, and early identification of delays, while working with Commercial and Project teams to optimise project milestones.

Qualifications

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Construction / Engineering or appropriate professional qualification.
  • Competence in appropriate Planning software.
  • Active experience of planning techniques in tendering and contract delivery.
  • Clear understanding of commercial and contractual processes within planning.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages; BIM and 4D planning.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and contribute to project start-up/close/mid meetings.
  • Undertake site visits to review site progress.
  • Review Employer’s Requirements, Contract Data and Works Information and highlight deficiencies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed schedules including monitoring of critical path and float.
  • Contribute to assessment of programme risks and risk analysis, including mitigation measures.
  • Progress monitoring and updating of the construction programme and forecasting problem areas.
  • Produce reports and programme narratives to defined reporting requirements.
  • Produce programmes, reports and extracts as required by the project team.
  • Develop resource histograms for prelims, labour, materials and plant.
  • Prepare short-term programmes with the project team.
  • Include cost data into the programme and cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide advice on delays to the critical path and potential impacts.
  • Produce phasing diagrams, narratives or presentations as required.
  • Coordinate designers and suppliers’ works and integrate into the programme.
  • Develop programme for change events with Commercial and Project teams.
  • Monitor productivity and forecasting trends; interface with BIM and design teams.
  • Comply with STRA-PLAN procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide as-built data for feedback to Business Development and Planning teams.

  • Competence in appropriate Planning software.
  • Active experience of working with a wide range of planning techniques in both tendering and contract delivery.
  • A clear understanding of working knowledge of the commercial and contractual processes within the planning function.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, along with an understanding of the benefits of the use of BIM and 4D planning.
Your contribution to our company

  • Review the Employer’s Requirements, Contract Data and Works Information and associated information and highlight any deficiencies/omissions noted.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed engineering, procurement and construction schedules including monitoring and analysis of critical path and project float.
  • Contribute to assessment of programme risks and programme risk analysis, including development and implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Progress monitoring and regular updating of the construction programme, including forecasting of potential problem areas and proposing mitigation measures to the senior planning team/Project Manager.
  • Produce reports and programme narratives to the defined project reporting requirements.
  • Produce programmes, reports and / or extract filters as required by the project team, including indication of deviation from the baseline programme.
  • Develop resource histograms to demonstrate project prelims, labour, materials and plant requirements as required.
  • Preparing short-term programmes in conjunction with the project team.
  • Include cost data into the programme and produce cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide advice to the project team of when it is likely that there will be delays to the critical path and the potential impact this will result in.
  • Production of phasing diagrams, narratives or presentations to demonstrate strategy and sequence as required.
  • Coordinate designers and other supplier’s works and integrate into the project programme.
  • In conjunction with Commercial and Project teams develop the programme for change events.
  • Monitor productivity to determine trends and to assist in forecasting.
  • Interfacing with other functional teams including, but not limited to: BIM team, design team, estimation and construction execution.
  • Compliance with the STRA-PLAN procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide productivity as-built data accumulated from the works to allow feedback to the Business Development team and availability to the wider Planning team.
  • Encourage sharing of information and best practise and communication between Business Units.
  • Reporting of data and progress to the Planning Manager.
