Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a motivated Business student for a 12-month placement in Darlington within the Supply Chain Planning team. You will learn how a global manufacturing leader operates and gain hands-on experience across planning and analytics.

As an onsite placement, you will contribute to scorecards, data analysis, and cross-functional projects with colleagues across time zones. You will develop Excel/PowerPoint skills, and have opportunities to use Power BI.

Qualifications

• Wide range of applicants studying across Business, Supply Chain or Logistics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI is a plus.
• Strong communication, organisational and time management skills.
• Willingness to learn and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Updating and publication of global scorecards and metrics for the business.
• Ensure metrics are tracked to enable continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Global Project Teams, Material Planning, Demand Management, Account Management and Purchasing to document improvements.
• Involvement in creating, maintaining and leading supply chain projects across sites.
• Manipulate data to establish actions and outcomes.
• Gather material and chase actions for Global Supply and Demand Review.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Business student to join our team specializing in Supply Chain Planning for our Supply Chain business unit in Darlington. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027.

The requirements are to be onsite for part of the week so you will need to be able to travel or relocate to the location on your own behalf.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Updating and Publication of Global Scorecards and Metrics on behalf of the business
• Ensure Metrics are accurately tracked to enable continuous improvement within the organization
• Working with Global Project Teams, Material Planning, Demand Management, Account Management and Purchasing to trouble shoot and document improvement initiatives
• Involvement and support in creating, maintaining and potentially leading supply chain projects across multiple sites across the business
• Manipulating and using data to establish the basis for actions
• Gather material and chase actions for the Global Supply and Demand Review

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• We are looking for a wide range of applicants studying across a broad range of degrees which could include Business, Supply Chain and Logistics
• A good level of Microsoft skills including Excel and PowerPoint are required, Power BI would also be advantageous although is not essential
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills in order to work with colleagues from different time zones and cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to learn and solve problems
