Job summary

A leading global organization in the UK is seeking a Marketing Communications Assistant to support its marketing efforts for the on-highway sector. This position offers meaningful work, exposure to various marketing activities such as events and campaigns, and an opportunity to develop professional skills. Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Marketing or Communications and possess excellent communication and IT skills. The role is set to start in Summer 2026.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing / Communications is preferred.
  • Experience in marketing activities including events, advertising, and PR campaigns.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the marketing plan for the on-highway business.
  • Assist in refreshing communication activities for the European business.
  • Coordinate delivery of marketing materials and assist in marketing programs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Communications Assistant to join our team specializing in marketing communications for our European Engine Business in Darlington, UK. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential! This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer 2026.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Working closely with Europe-based communications colleagues and other key business stakeholders to support the delivery of the marketing plan for our on-highway (truck and bus) business.
  • Support the Marketing Manager in refreshing on-highway communication activities for our European business including working with creative agencies to set a new strategy, as well as connect with global teams on data analytics, measurement and paid social media campaigns.
  • Support a wide range of marketing activities including events and exhibitions, web / social media campaigns, advertising and PR campaigns.
  • Production and distribution of marketing collateral and sales materials.
  • Work with suppliers and other stakeholders to co-ordinate the delivery of marketing materials, branded merchandise and other marketing assets for key projects.
  • Provide administrative and logistical assistance for marketing programs and activities.
External Qualifications And Competencies
  • Working towards a degree in Marketing / Communications or related area
  • Excellent IT Skills - MS Office
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Experience in Adobe suite is preferred but not essential
  • Full driving license
