We are looking for an enthusiastic Battery Electrical Engineer Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in Milton Keynes. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2026.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Participate within the product development team alongside mechanical, electrical & thermal engineers with particular focus on product design.
  • Develop an understanding of fundamental structural design, product development cycle & designing in context.
  • Opportunity to design components using CAD systems, to meet technical requirements in context with a focus on low-cost, design for manufacture & assembly.
  • Responsible to document design principles across a wide range of commodities & coordinate some basic investigation on those designs (vibration, crash, thermal loading, mechanical shock).
  • The role also provides the opportunity for getting an insight into the product design and development of the exciting and fast-paced battery electric industry.
  • They will have first-hand experience of concept through to detail design and work on proactively identifying potential failure modes via engineering toolsets (DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, 8D & Fault-tree investigation) and determining how these can be mitigated through optimal design.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Studying a STEM degree, preferably studying for a technical degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Automotive or Design Engineering.
  • Keen interest in electrification and Li-ion batteries.
  • Basic understanding of Electrical Architecture Calculation (LV and HV system), Electronic component HW design (Resistor, IC Chip, Filters, etc) and Automotive Electrical working principle.
  • Able to effectively present complex ideas and has an eye to detail and good communicate to cascading information.
