Job summary

Coventry City Council seeks a Sport and Physical Activity Programme Officer to drive place-based, developmental work across sport, physical activity and wellbeing. The role focuses on increasing participation, equity and impact, with responsibilities spanning commissioning, delivery and evaluation within a collaborative team.

The post is fixed-term for 2 years, full-time (37 hours per week) with flexible hours, including evenings and some travel within the region and nationally.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of the structure, funding and drivers of the UK sport, physical activity and wellbeing sector.
• Understanding of project monitoring, appraisal and evaluation systems to demonstrate learning.
• Experience assisting collaborative partnerships and finance related to grants or similar funded programmes.
• Experience developing sport and physical activity plans to promote access and widen participation.
• Experience supporting funding bids, developing commercial partnerships and/or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Enable commissioning, delivery and evaluation of sports and cultural activities with robust financial and operational controls.
• Embed effective partnerships and support place-based development to meet diverse community needs.
• Lead contract/grant management of leisure services and monitor performance across programmes.
• Support development of innovative programmes and new initiatives within the sector.
• Provide development support for projects in Care, Health and Housing services as required.
