Job summary

A leading consulting firm is seeking a PKI Architect (DV CLEARED) based in Basingstoke. This contractor role requires strong expertise in PKI and cryptography solutions, including managing SSL certificate lifecycle and designing secure systems. Successful candidates must possess extensive experience with MS Certificate Management Services and cloud-based solutions on Azure or AWS. Occasional travel to customer sites is expected.

Overview

PKI Architect (DV CLEARED)

• Location: Basingstoke
• Work arrangements: Remote - occasional travel to customer sites required
• Job Type: Contractor
• Rate: £450 - £500 per day
• Clearance: Active DV Clearance is mandatory

We are seeking a PKI Architect to join our established team, supporting the delivery of highly secure network services to customers within Defence and Central Government. This role involves working closely with solution architects, security architects, and project teams to deliver high assurance services from design through to delivery.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Work as part of a team or independently to provide PKI specialism in defining and delivering major technical projects, strategies, and architectures.
• Collaborate with solution architects and project teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of PKI services.
• Design and implement PKI and Cryptography solutions, ensuring high levels of security and compliance.
• Manage SSL certificate lifecycle, including issuance, renewal, and revocation.
• Utilise HSM and KMS technologies to enhance security measures and manage cryptographic keys effectively.
• Develop cloud-based PKI solutions tailored to client needs using Azure or AWS architectures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge and experience in PKI and Cryptography solution design.
• Proficiency in MS Certificate Management Services including Certification Authority, Online Responder, NDES Services, CEP/CES, and Active Directory Domain Services.
• Expert level experience in SSL certificate management, OpenSSL, and Certutil.
• Experience with Hardware Security Module (HSM) technology and Key Management Server (KMS) technology, preferably with Thales HSM platforms.
• Expertise in cloud solution development with Azure or AWS, specifically related to PKI management.
• Strong background in Cryptography & PKI solution design (HLD & LLD).
