Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Pipe Stress Engineer to perform detailed stress analyses on high-integrity piping systems within complex nuclear projects. You will provide specialist input on flexibility, thermal, seismic and equipment loading, using CAESAR II and related tools.

The role involves reviewing layouts and 3D models, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with ASME/EN/RCC-M and project-specific requirements. Hybrid working and strong pension support are offered.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Pipe Stress Engineer on complex projects.
  • Strong proficiency using CAESAR II for piping stress analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section III and B31 piping codes.
  • Understanding of static equipment including vessels and heat exchangers.
  • Strong understanding of piping flexibility and support methodologies.
  • Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail capabilities.
  • Experience within nuclear or other high-integrity industries advantageous.
  • Knowledge of E3D, PDMS, Navisworks or AutoCAD advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II software.
  • Assess flexibility, thermal expansion, vibration and seismic loading.
  • Evaluate pipe supports, restraints and spring hanger requirements.
  • Apply ASME, EN, RCC-M and project-specific design requirements.
  • Assess piping loads transferred onto connected mechanical equipment.
  • Produce clear stress reports, calculation notes and technical justifications.
  • Review piping layouts, isometrics and 3D models for stress requirements.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces with piping, process and structural teams.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments and nuclear quality requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
