Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a specialized, high-performing team at the forefront of infrastructure engineering. As part of our elite Pipe Technology Group, you will help deliver critical water infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally. Our team thrives on solving complex technical challenges in a collaborative, supportive environment where innovation is actively encouraged. If you are looking to elevate your expertise alongside recognized industry specialists on high-profile projects, this is the ideal home for your career.

The Opportunity

As a Pipeline Civil Engineer, you will provide critical technical engineering across the full lifecycle of major pipeline projects. Working directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you will oversee and execute technical deliverables including material selection, structural design of buried pipelines, thrust restraint, and trenchless technologies. Your day-to-day focus involves applying advanced pipeline analysis tools, evaluating rehabilitation options, and leading condition and failure assessments to extend asset life across entire networks and catchments. You will also contribute to project proposals, produce high-level technical reports, and help drive research initiatives alongside industry bodies such as UKWIR and CIRIA.

YOUR IMPACT

Your expertise will directly safeguard and modernize essential water networks for communities across the UK and beyond. Moving past standard design routines, you will tackle high-stakes engineering challenges – from determining remaining asset life to delivering sustainable rehabilitation and trenchless solutions that minimize environmental disruption. The frameworks and innovative designs you build will help water utilities build resilient infrastructure, optimise capital investment, and deliver clean, reliable water for future generations.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong technical grounding in water industry engineering combined with an analytical, creative approach to problem-solving.

  • Qualifications: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, holding Chartered or Incorporated status (or actively working toward professional registration with the ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent body).
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience across key pipeline disciplines, such as structural design of buried pipelines (BS EN 1295-1:2019, BS 9295:2020), thrust restraint design (CIRIA C816/Report 128), trunk main design, and thermoplastic/metallic pipe materials.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Familiarity with pipeline rehabilitation, trenchless design principles, failure assessments, or piping analysis software (such as CAESAR II).
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent proposal and report-writing skills, with the interpersonal confidence to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary peers, clients, and key stakeholders.
