Job summary

Mitie Group plc. seeks a Pipefitter Installations in the Coventry area to install, modify and maintain mechanical pipework across leisure facilities, healthcare environments and data centres.

You will work from technical drawings, follow safety standards, and perform testing, commissioning and heat-exchanger swaps. The role requires experience in live environments and qualifications such as NVQ in Mechanical Engineering Services / Plumbing & Heating, CSCS/JIB, with gas qualifications

Qualifications

• Proven experience as pipefitter in large-scale environments.
• Strong knowledge of commercial heating, boilers, heat pumps and exchangers.
• Ability to read drawings and method statements.
• Experience in live environments with strict safety protocols.
• Knowledge of building services layouts and plantroom design.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and test pipework systems (LTHW, CHW, DHW, boosted cold-water).
• Work in energy centres and plantrooms, ensuring safe installation of pipework.
• Carry out plate heat exchanger swaps including isolation and recommissioning.
• Install and modify systems involving gas boilers with regulatory compliance.
• Install and support heat pump systems and integrate with hydraulic circuits.
• Interpret technical drawings to deliver accurate installations.
• Conduct pressure testing and commissioning for performance verification.
• Maintain high safety standards in hospitals and data centres.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during installation or refurbishment.

Hours: 40 Hours - Monday to Friday

We're looking for an piperfitter who would be responsible for the installation, modification, and maintenance of mechanical pipework systems across leisure facilities, healthcare environments, and data centres.

Main Duties:

• Install, assemble, and test pipework systems including LTHW, CHW, DHW, and boosted cold-water services within commercial and industrial environments.
• Work within energy centres and plantrooms, ensuring safe and efficient installation of mechanical plant and associated pipework.
• Carry out plate heat exchanger swap‑outs, including isolation, removal, installation, and recommissioning
• Install and modify systems involving traditional gas boilers, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and site safety standards.

• Install and support heat pump systems, including integration with existing plant and hydraulic circuits.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to deliver accurate installations.
• Conduct pressure testing and system commissioning to verify integrity and performance.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, particularly in sensitive environments such as hospitals and data centres.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during installation or refurbishment works.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience as a pipefitter, mechanical installer, or commercial plumber in large‑scale or complex environments.
• Strong understanding of commercial heating and cooling systems, including boilers, heat pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Competence in steel, copper, and plastic pipework systems.
• Ability to work from technical drawings and method statements.
• Experience working in live environments (e.g., healthcare or data centres) with strict safety and operational protocols.
• Knowledge of building services, energy centres, and plantroom layouts.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Qualifications:

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services / Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent).

• • CSCS or JIB/PMES card.
  • IPAF/PASMA (desirable).
  • Gas qualifications (advantageous but not essential depending on role).
  • Experience with F‑Gas or heat pump systems (desirable).
