Job summary

A marine and industrial services company in Portsmouth is seeking a First Class Pipefitter with at least five years of experience in marine, commercial nuclear, or petro/chem environments. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading piping drawings and fitting various materials. Additional requirements include the ability to prep and clean pipe, as well as complete necessary background checks. Candidates must be U.S. citizens to qualify for this position.

Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years as a marine, commercial nuclear, or petro/chem First Class Pipefitter.
• Background check, drug test, and respirator fit-testing required.

Skills

Reading and interpreting ship piping drawings

Fitting carbon steel, CRES, copper nickel piping

Ending prep piping by hand or machine

Installing pipe hangers

Reading a ruler using inches and tenths

Prepping and fitting backing rings

Cleaning cut/break pipe with grinder

Hand prepping V bevels

Fabrication of details and assemblies from drawings

Bending pipe from template using hand bender

Fitting welded sockets

Fitting brazed joints with/without insert ring

Salary and Benefits

$29.50 Hourly
$120 Per Diem

Experience

Five (5) or more years as a marine, commercial nuclear, or petro/chem First Class Pipefitter

Required Experience / Qualifications

1. Able to read and interpret ship piping drawings.
2. Experienced fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel piping.
3. Ability to end prep piping by hand and/or with Wach or Portsmouth Machine.
4. Knowledge in installing pipe hangers.
5. Ability to read a ruler using inches and tenths.
6. Ability to prep and fit-up backing rings.
7. Ability to clean cut/break pipe with a grinder.
8. Ability to hand prep V bevels.
9. Experience in fabrication of various details and assemblies from drawings.
10. Ability to bend pipe from template and in the use of a hand bender.
11. Ability to fit welded sockets.
12. Ability to fit brazed joints with/without insert ring.

A background check, drug test, and respirator fit‑testing is required before beginning work.
