Overview

Job Title: Pipefitter

Salary: £38,662 per annum + shift allowance + overtime

Location: Glasgow

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Pipefitter. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern. The company works at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries. They are looking for a skilled and experienced Pipefitter to join their team in Clyde. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and installing piping systems across a range of projects in the defence sector, ensuring the efficient operation of piping installations while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Shifts and Benefits

• There are 3 shifts available. The successful candidate would start on a day shift and discuss preferences with their manager.
• Night Shift: Monday- Thursday 8.30pm-6.00am
• Day Shift: Monday- Thursday 7.00am-4.30pm
• Weekend Shift: Friday- Sunday 7.00am-7.30pm
• Both night and weekend shifts include a 33% shift allowance on top of the basic rate.
• Overtime is available (rates below in Benefits).

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install pipework systems in large and small-bore pipework using different materials (copper, CuNi, carbon steel and stainless steel).
• Use a range of hand tools and mechanical equipment to cut, bend and weld pipes, and install pipework.
• Install utilities aboard ships (e.g., sinks, showers, toilets).
• Install and assemble fittings, valves, and related components according to drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
• Maintain accurate records of work carried out.

• Overtime Pay rates: Monday- Thursday 1.33 (Time and a 3rd); Friday 1.5 (Time and a half for first 4 hours) and 2.00 (Double time) for any hours thereafter;
• Saturday 1.5 (Time and a half); Sunday 2.00 (Double time).

Essential

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate / Trade Papers (you will be required to provide these papers) and relevant qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Current knowledge and experience of pipe manufacture, installation, and use of associated equipment.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, tools, and safety standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Clear understanding of SHE, COSHH and Risk Assessments.
• Proven experience as a Pipefitter or similar within an industrial or commercial environment.

Desirable

• Marine Pipefitting Experience.
• Experience in industrial or commercial settings preferred.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Experience in TIG Pipe; Welding.

Requirements

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
