Job summary

Murphy Group is seeking a skilled Piling Rig Operator to join our site teams in Hemel Hempstead. You will operate CFA and rotary rigs, perform daily inspections, and install pile types as specified by project engineers.

You will read engineering drawings, comply with risk assessments, and coordinate with banksmen and site engineers to maintain smooth operations on heavy civil projects.

Qualifications

• Hold CPCS or NPORS Piling Rig Operator qualification.
• Have a valid CSCS card.
• Have a Full UK Driving Licence.
• Proven experience operating CFA piling rigs.
• Proven experience operating rotary piling rigs.
• Experience on construction, civil engineering, or ground engineering projects.
• Knowledge of piling techniques, drilling methods and ground conditions.
• Experience around lifting operations and heavy plant.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and site documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate CFA and rotary piling rigs safely and efficiently.
• Carry out pre-start inspections and daily maintenance checks on piling equipment.
• Install CFA, rotary bored, and other pile types per engineering specs and project requirements.
• Ensure piling operations comply with procedures, method statements and risk assessments.
• Work closely with banksmen, slinger/signallers, concrete operatives, and site engineers.
• Report defects, breakdowns, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Assist with rig mobilisation, demobilisation, and site setup activities.
• Ensure work areas are safe, tidy and environmentally responsible.
• Support other site activities to help achieve project targets.
