Our client, a family-owned business, is seeking to employ a Farm Manager to join their team and be responsible for the operation of their 400-sow farrow-to-finish unit.
The pig unit is a 3-week batch farrow-to-finish, outdoor-reared, free-range setup. Dry sows are housed inside a modern scrape-through building built 3 years ago. Farrowing is outside on concrete railway sleepers; growers are outside in Hudson barns; the outdoor-reared pigs then finish inside in deep straw scrapes through housing; and the free-range remain outside for their duration.
The farm's ethos is to get as close as possible to the end consumer. Their homegrown cereals are all fed back to livestock through their farm mill and mix setup.
The role is flexible, so candidates can help shape it, allowing growth in staff management and consumer relationships, depending on their interests.
