Job summary

Pilgrim's Pride Limited in Stradbroke is seeking a Breeding Fields Person to support outdoor breeding farms, improve productivity, welfare, and on-farm performance, reporting to the Breeding Farms Manager. You will work with farmers, vets, and internal teams to drive improvements and uphold welfare standards.

You will help build strong farmer relationships across the region while contributing to continuous improvement and farm assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Practical experience or knowledge of pig production and animal welfare standards.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The confidence to influence, advise, and challenge constructively where appropriate.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team.
• Good commercial awareness and a results-focused mindset.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• An understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an agricultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and management support to outdoor breeding farms to improve productivity and performance.
• Conduct regular farm visits focusing on gilt management, service and dry sow management, and farrowing performance.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators including pigs per sow per year; tonnes per sow per year; weaning weights.
• Work alongside the veterinary team to monitor herd health, welfare, and biosecurity standards.
• Analyse herd recording data to identify priorities and develop farm improvement plans.
• Support farmers in achieving agreed production targets through practical action plans.
• Liaise between farmers and veterinary teams, supporting vaccination programmes and herd health initiatives.
• Ensure all farms meet required assurance and audit standards (Red Tractor, RSPCA Assured, Outdoor Bred Standards).
• Assist in identifying and developing opportunities for new breeding units and strengthening farmer relationships.
• Attend team meetings, Opex meetings, farmer events, and industry shows; champion company values and continuous improvement.
