Overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard-working Band 8A in a fixed term post to work with the multi-disciplinary team on Ward 1, which is a PICU in the Acute and Urgent Care Service line. Ward 1 is a very busy, highly functioning 13 bedded male PICU ward located on the Springfield Hospital site. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to join our well-established team within the Acute Care Service line.

The successful candidate is expected to work with the ward team and the service line in providing high quality nursing care and leadership. He/she will be a highly skilled and well-motivated individual with considerable experience of working in a dynamic acute mental health service.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor all policies and ensure that the ward functions in line with the Trust and service line philosophy of providing respectful compassionate care that is of the highest quality.
  • Ensure that supervision and appraisal systems are robustly implemented and that the care provided is of the highest possible standard in line with the service’s clinical governance framework.
  • Mentor and supervise new and existing nurses through induction and preceptorship, facilitate professional development programs, promote a positive learning environment, and provide clinical leadership to improve patient outcomes.

Location

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting. Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

Clinical Leadership
  • Modeling best practices in clinical care and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Providing clinical expertise and guidance to nurses on complex or challenging cases.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals (doctors, therapists, etc.) to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Working to address ward culture and addressing poor practice and enable the team to make sound clinical decisions.
