Physiotherapy Team Lead – Maternity Cover – Acute Unscheduled Care, University Hospital Crosshouse, NHS Scotland
Hours and Shift Pattern
37 hours per week, fixed term to 20 February 2027, participation in physiotherapy on call rota required.
What you will do
Leadership and Management
- Provide day‑to‑day management, coordinating and supervising the work of a physiotherapy team to deliver a high quality physiotherapy service.
- Support Physiotherapy Service Managers and other Team Leaders in managing and delivering an efficient, equitable and responsive Physiotherapy service.
- Implement and influence policies and procedures, authorised signatory, delegated budget for the team.
- Undertake and support clinical and other audit and research within the specialist service area.
- Lead on an Ayrshire wide physiotherapy portfolio.
Clinical
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing specialist knowledge and skills.
- Act autonomously in assessing, diagnosing and care planning patients within a managed caseload; deliver high quality Physiotherapy care to service users with a wide range of clinical needs.
- Plan, organise and manage a varied caseload, treating a diverse range of patients within various health and social care settings, ensuring appropriate delegation and ongoing supervision of previously assessed patients to Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants as appropriate.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
Education
- Registered professional qualification in physiotherapy and HCPC registered.
- Evidence of relevant post‑registration education and development.
- Demonstrate evidence of appropriate CPD (clinical and leadership/management).
Professional Experience
- Evidence of team management experience and developing innovative and creative physiotherapy solutions to achieve local objectives.
- Demonstrate understanding of clinical governance principles and the delivery of systems and frameworks to establish clear accountabilities based on professional codes of practice.
- Extensive experience of working in the profession, including advanced theoretical experience and demonstrated practical skills at highly specialist clinical level within physiotherapy services.
- Evidence of attendance at formal management/leadership courses.
- Evidence of audit and research activity.

- Knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards and the regulatory framework, e.g. NHS Quality Improvement Scotland.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written and presentation).
- Promotes collaboration and team working internal and external to Physiotherapy and the organisation.
- Evidence of motivational and leadership skills and team management/development.
