Wehave an exciting opportunity to recruit into a short-term Fixed Term contracta dedicated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to work in our PhysiotherapyService at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The post will sit withinone of Band 5 rotations across our acute inpatient services. You will be partof a large physiotherapy team that covers a wide variety of conditions acrossa number of clinical pathways.

Thesuccessful candidate will need to demonstrate post graduate experience andclinical knowledge of the assessment and management of a variety of patients.They will be required to demonstrate an ability to work both as an autonomouspractitioner, and as part of multidisciplinary teams for the best outcomesfor our patients. Good communication skill is essential both with patientsand our colleagues and respectful behaviours to all.

Main duties of the job

Themain duties of this role are the assessment and treatment of a wide varietyof patients in a variety of environments. You will carry your own caseloadand be expected to time manage this alongside other commitments you may have.You will work closely with the wider physiotherapy team to manage complexconditions depending on your level of experience and understand thepriorities of the service in the area you are working.

Job responsibilities

JOBSUMMARY

Toperform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations,providing a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatmentprogramme, seeking support from senior physiotherapists appropriately.

JOB PURPOSE

2.1 To assess, diagnose, plan and deliverphysiotherapy treatment programmes to patients with physical andpsychological conditions in their care.

2.2 To carry and prioritise their ownclinical caseload as an autonomous practitioner.

2.3 To be responsible for their owncontinuing professional and personaldevelopment.

2.4 To be responsible for maintainingaccurate and comprehensive physiotherapy treatment notes/records for eachpatient.

3. JOB DIMENSIONS

3.1 The post holder will rotate on a sixmonthly basis around various clinical areas.

3.2 They will be responsible for their ownvariable caseload within that specialty area.Access to advice and support from a senior physiotherapist isavailable if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

9.1 Clinical:

9.1.1 To be professional and legallyresponsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work relating to theassessment and treatment of patients in your care undertaking clinical dutiesas an autonomous practitioner.

9.1.2 To interpret and analyse clinical andnon-clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis and prognoses across a range ofconditions and to decide on the best course of intervention from a range ofoptions.

9.1.3 Using investigative and analytical skillsto formulate individualised management and treatment plans.

9.1.5 To demonstrate dexterity, co-ordinationand palpatory senses for assessment and manual treatment of patients.

9.4.2 To decide priorities for own work load,balancing patient related demands.

9.4.3 To be responsible for the safe andcompetent use of individually prescribed equipment used by patients andgeneral therapy equipment used by physiotherapy support workers throughteaching, and supervision of practice.

9.4.4 To maintain accurate, comprehensive andup-to-date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements,and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriatedisciplines in the form of verbal/written reports/letters.

9.4.5 To be involved in the collection ofappropriate data and statistics for the use of the department.

9.4.6 To be aware of Health and Safety aspectsof your work and implement any policies, which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including your prompt recording and reporting of accidents to senior staff, and ensuring that equipment use is safe.

9.4.7 To comply with the organisational anddepartmental policies and procedures.

9.4.8 To undertake any other duties that mightbe considered appropriate by the Superintendent or the Head of Physiotherapy.
