Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Physiotherapist to lead on orthopaedic and respiratory cases within an acute setting. You will manage your own caseload, supervise junior staff and students, and participate in weekend and on-call rotas.

Applicants should hold HCPC registration, a BSc/Diploma in Physiotherapy, and demonstrate ongoing CPD and MDT collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of ongoing CPD since qualification
  • Relevant post registration experience at Band 5 level in core areas
  • Experience of working with orthopaedic patients in the acute setting
  • Experience of participation in weekend and respiratory on-call physiotherapy services

  • Evidence of appraisal, supervision and teaching of physiotherapists, assistants and students
  • The ability to clinically reason the application of appropriate assessment and treatment techniques in the acute setting
  • Knowledge of a wide range of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions
  • The ability to use reflective practice as a tool for growth and development
  • Understands the professional and legal responsibilities of clinical practice
  • Evidence of effective self-management including time, prioritisation, clinical caseload and stress
  • Proven leadership and deputising skills in clinical area
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and beliefs
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, relatives, staff and external contacts, including in challenging situations

Job description

They will be a role model for expert clinical care, and lead on specific projects / service developments and management functions as delegated by the Band 7 therapist or Clinical Lead Therapist. They will role model the identified Trust values at all times. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner in providing physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management to their own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date physiotherapy records. They will evidence based principles and current best practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate physiotherapy interventions. The post holder will provide supervision, teaching and support to more junior staff, therapy assistants and students on placement. The post holder is expected to actively participate in the 5 in 7 weekend rota and respiratory on-call rota, Please review job description and person specification for full details of job role and expectations.
You will have prior experience working in a variety of acute settings inclusive of acute orthopaedics. Experience in respiratory physiotherapy is also essential. The post holder will manage a clinical caseload, support the team with more complex cases and has supervisory and teaching responsibilities.,
