A community health organization is seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join their Integrated Community Neurology Team in Lowestoft. This role involves assessing and treating patients with neurological conditions in various settings, including clinics and homes. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a diploma in Physiotherapy, and experience with complex cases. This position is a bank contract to cover maternity leave.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Integrated Community Neurology Team on a bank contract. This is a fixed term position to cover maternity leave within the team.
We are a small and friendly team of Specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistant Practitioners, who support patients with a range of neurological conditions. We provide timely assessments and treatment to facilitate and improve patients quality of life and maximise independence and self-management. We offer support to patients throughout their journey from initial diagnosis, including long term condition management and palliative care.
This is a varied and exciting role which offers the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, exercise groups, patients homes and care homes. There is potential to work across our various clinic sites within the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.
You will complete assessments, interventions and reviews, both face to face and via the telephone. You will manage your own caseload of patients, some of whom may have complex presentation. You will work closely with your colleagues in the team, sharing ideas and completing joint appointments as appropriate.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to patient care, excellent communication skills, flexibility and organisational skills.
Assess and treat own caseload of patients who may have complex presentations, and maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner.
To treat Neurology patients in outpatient and domiciliary settings.
A high standard of clinical work is required which will also include teaching and supervision of junior staff, assistants and students.
Requirement to deputise for the Band 7 Team Leader where appropriate.

Clinical
To be responsible for a defined case loadworking without direct supervision. Clinical support is provided throughClinical / professional supervision takes the form of direct observation ofpractice or formal training / clinical reasoning sessions.
To be professionally and legally responsible andaccountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patientsin your care
To be responsible for equipment used in carryingout physiotherapy duties, and to adhere to departmental equipment policy,including competence to use equipment and to ensure the safe use of equipmentby others through teaching, training and supervision of practice.
To accept clinical responsibility for adesignated caseload of patients, and to organise this efficiently andeffectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To ensure ahigh standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, andsupport more junior staff to do likewise.
To undertake the comprehensive assessment ofpatients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative andanalytical skills.
To formulate an individualised physiotherapymanagement and / or treatment plan, using clinical reasoning skills andutilising a wide range of treatment skills in order to formulate a specialisedprogramme of care.
To provide spontaneous and planned advice,teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, topromote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a consistentapproach to patient care.
To communicate effectively with patients andcarers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding ofcondition. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, andgaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients. Barriersto effective communication will regularly be evident.
To assess capacity, gain valid informed consentand have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lackcapacity to consent to treatment.
Professional
To maintain own clinical professionaldevelopment (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments andincorporate them as necessary into your work and to be an active member of thein-service training programme by the attendance and presentation at staffmeetings, tutorials, training sessions,external courses and reflective practice
Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-datedocumentation in line with legal and departmental requirements, and communicateassessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form ofreports and letters.
To communicate effectively and workcollaboratively with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure deliveryof a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service.This will include discussion of patient care and discharge planning. Toprovide teaching/training to other members of the MDT.
Training, supervision and performance managementof junior staff, technical instructors, assistants and students, withassistance from more senior members of the Neurology team. This will includethe use of formal appraisal documentation.
Participate in the staff appraisal scheme andPersonal Development Programme (PDP).
Undertake the measurement and evaluation of yourwork and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practice projects,audit and outcome measures, either individually or with the wider neurologyteam. To make recommendations for change.
Demonstrate a sound understanding of ClinicalGovernance and Risk Management and apply to work situation
Organisational.
To deputise for the Band 7 in terms ofoperational issues.
Be actively involved in the collection ofappropriate data and statistics for the use of the department.
Be aware of the Health and Safety aspects ofyour work and implement any policies which may be required to improve thesafety of your work area, including the prompt recording and reporting ofaccidents to senior staff, and ensuring that equipment used is safe.
To comply with the organisational anddepartmental policies and procedures and to be involved in the reviewing andupdating as appropriate.
Any other duties which might be consideredappropriate by the Band 7 / Team Leader, Professional Head of Physiotherapy orthe Operational Lead of PCH facing specialist services.
