Job description

Physiotherapist
Make every contact count. Make a difference every day

Are you a passionate and motivated Physiotherapist who wants to make a meaningful difference to the lives of people? Do you believe in delivering compassionate, person-centred care that helps every patient achieve the best possible outcomes?

At the Healthcare Management Trust (HMT), we are looking for a dedicated Physiotherapist to join our team and deliver high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy care tailored to the individual needs of our patients.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical expertise, develop meaningful relationships and contribute to a service that puts people first.

About the role

As a Physiotherapist at HMT, you will provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management to patients, taking responsibility for your own designated caseload and working autonomously within professional and clinical guidelines.

This is a Bank role so it is not contracted to fixed hours; instead, you can pick shifts that align with your availability. Our Bank workers enable HMT to manage fluctuating demand, such as covering staff absences, busy periods, or unexpected workload increases whilst offering you the flexibility to pick up shifts as available.

What you will be doing

In this varied and rewarding role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering physiotherapy interventions through face-to-face appointments, group sessions and remote consultations using telephone or IT systems.
  • Undertaking comprehensive physiotherapy assessments, interpreting clinical and non-clinical information, and developing appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
  • Managing your own caseload effectively, prioritising referrals and appointments according to clinical need.
  • Designing and delivering individualised treatment programmes informed by evidence-based practice, clinical assessment and professional judgement.
  • Using a range of treatment approaches, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, patient education, exercise classes, electrotherapy where appropriate, and other suitable interventions.
  • Explaining proposed treatments clearly, checking patient understanding and obtaining valid informed consent.
  • Working appropriately within the legal framework when supporting patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment, including situations involving a relevant Power of Attorney.
  • Monitoring and evaluating patient outcomes, reassessing needs and adapting treatment plans to maximise progress and independence.
  • Communicating effectively with patients who may experience difficulties with communication, understanding, hearing or vision, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Demonstrating excellent practical skills, manual dexterity and clinical coordination when assessing and treating patients.
  • Acting as a source of physiotherapy expertise and providing advice to patients, colleagues and the wider MDT.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring referrals and appointments are appropriately recorded on the patient administration system.
  • Working in accordance with HMT clinical policies, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) guidance and relevant national and local standards.
  • Following safeguarding procedures, recognising and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Contributing to service evaluation, audit and continuous improvement, helping to ensure care remains safe, effective and of the highest possible quality.
What you will bring

We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and adaptable professional who combines strong clinical knowledge with a genuine commitment to person-centred care.

Essential qualifications
  • A degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).
Essential knowledge, skills and experience
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to apply, evidence-based physiotherapy practice and relevant national guidelines.
  • The ability to assess patients, exercise sound clinical judgement and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet diverse patient needs.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with other healthcare professionals and the wider MDT.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise a designated caseload efficiently, balancing clinical priorities with service demands.
  • A flexible and responsive approach to changing service requirements.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, professional standards, patient safety and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to evaluate treatment outcomes and contribute to service delivery reviews and clinical audit.
Why join HMT?

At HMT, you will be part of an organisation with a clear purpose: to make a positive difference to people's lives through innovative, high-quality care.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Make a meaningful difference to patients with complex needs.
  • Use and develop your clinical expertise in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Deliver individualised care that recognises each patient's needs, circumstances and goals.
  • Contribute ideas and help shape the ongoing development of our physiotherapy service.
  • Work within a values-led organisation committed to compassionate care, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Most importantly, you will be joining a team that believes every interaction matters and that everyone deserves to receive the best possible care.
