Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking an experienced Physiotherapist for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. You will deliver high-quality physiotherapy care, undertake comprehensive assessments, and plan tailored programmes.

The role requires effective communication with patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The post offers weekday hours with a focus on evidence-based practice, professional collaboration, and opportunities for development within the NHS

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy is required.
  • HCPC registration is essential.
  • Experience in neuro-rehab and hospital settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out full patient consultations to establish baseline data using advanced communication.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including complex presentations.
  • Set treatment aims in negotiation with the patient.
  • Plan and deliver evidence-based treatment programmes across therapeutic options.
  • Facilitate timely discharge and determine outcomes of physiotherapy management.
  • Communicate complex information to patients, carers and the MDT.
  • Demonstrate empathy and provide clear advice to patients and staff.

Main Duties of the Job

Role Details:

  • To competently carry out full consultations with patients to establish baseline data using advanced communication and questioning skills
  • To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies to identify their problems and needs.
  • Set appropriate treatment aims and objectives in negotiation with the patient.
  • Competently plan and carry out realistic programmes of treatment from a range of specialised therapeutic options for each patient using evidence-based practice.
  • To facilitate safe and timely patient discharge and to determine outcome of physiotherapy management of the patient.
  • To communicate complex conditions related information to clients, carers, other family members, members of the multidisciplinary team and other professions and agencies.
  • Use a range of communication skills to establish a rapport and demonstrate empathy towards patients and carers and give effective advice to patients, staff and carers who maybe under stress.

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Good understanding of and ability to work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and experience of working in Physiotherapy neuro-rehab
  • Practical skills in neurological physiotherapy treatments
  • Experience of working in a hospital role / ward environment
  • Have experience with EMIS
  • Able to drive with a current driving licence would be helpful but not essential
  • Experience of making discharge decisions and supporting efficient discharge processes.
