The Role: Physics Part-Time Maternity Cover

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Delivery: Designing and delivering stimulating Physics lessons for Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level) students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Accurately assessing, recording, and monitoring student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to drive improvement.
  • Curriculum Development: Contributing to the continuous review and update of the Physics Schemes of Work and departmental resources.
  • Practical Work: Planning and safely overseeing practical experiments and demonstrations to deepen understanding of theoretical concepts.
  • Data Utilisation: Using student data to track attainment, identify barriers to learning, and implement targeted interventions.
  • Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive, disciplined, and safe learning environment, upholding the school's high standards of behaviour.
  • Pastoral Care: Taking an active role in the pastoral well‑being of students, liaising with parents/carers and colleagues as required.
  • Professional Development: Engaging in continuous professional development and keeping up‑to‑date with curriculum and pedagogical advancements in Physics.
  • Departmental Collaboration: Working collaboratively with Science department staff, sharing expertise and best practice.
