Job summary

Metro Infectious Disease Consultants in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join an active inpatient/outpatient team. You will work with a collaborating physician, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, and prescribe medications as delegated.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited program, current AL PA or NP license, at least two years’ infectious disease experience preferred, and proof of vaccinations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school.
• Current AL PA license or AL NP license.
• Two years’ experience, preferably in an infectious disease field.
• Proof of current vaccinations, including boosters, commonly required for working with immunocompromised patients.

Responsibilities

• Work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient and outpatient practice to deliver health care services.
• Diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health problems.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic treatment.
• Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
• Ordering, interpreting and performing laboratory and radiology tests.
• Prescribing medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated.
• Performing other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated.

Job description

The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner shall consult with the collaborating physician by telecommunication or in person as needed. In the absence of the designated collaborating physician, another physician shall be available for consultation.

Birmingham, AL (providing local hospital support)

Schedule

Full-Time (Monday-Friday) + One Weekend/Month

Specific Duties

1. Will work with the collaborating physician in an active inpatient and outpatient practice to deliver health care services to our patients.

2. Diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health problems.

3. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic treatment.

4. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.

5. Ordering, interpreting and performing laboratory and radiology tests.

6. Prescribing medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated.

7. Performing other therapeutic or corrective measures as indicated.

• Graduation from an accredited school
• Current AL PA license or AL NP license
• Two years’ experience, preferably in an infectious disease field.
• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
