Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Eligibility

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

The Anesthesia service functions under the overall management of the Section Chief of Anesthesiology. The physician functions within an interdisciplinary staff consisting of physicians, physician extenders, technicians, administrative and clerical staff. He/she is responsible and accountable for ensuring the provision of comprehensive surgical/clinical services and complies with established policies within the Department of Surgery/Anesthesiology section.

The Staff Anesthesiologist provides anesthesia‑related direct patient care in all functional areas of the OR, PACU, ICU, ward, and clinic settings as needed. The Anesthesiologist has responsibility for providing a complete range of anesthetic care to patients including pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative anesthetic administration and monitoring, and post‑anesthetic care, in compliance with national Joint Commission accreditation standards. The Anesthesiologist participates in development and implementation of program planning, objectives, and standards essential to delivery of quality anesthetic care. Requirements of home‑based on‑call are shared with other staff and usually range between 4 and 5 timers per month.
