Core Purpose:
Working with individuals or small groups, you will have responsibility for supporting the academic progress of students at AUSEAT within a specific subject area (PHRSE)
Key Responsibilities:
- To work with small groups of targeted students delivering intervention strategies to improve subject knowledge, adapting resources to ensure all students are able to make progress within a class, or outside of lessons as directed by Line Manager.
- To assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned students.
- To assist in adapting resources to ensure identified students are able to access the wider curriculum.
- To contribute to the identification and selection of students to take part in the programme as appropriate.
- To work with teachers and others on curriculum and/or student development teams to secure improved outcomes.
- To adapt resources for personalised in-class support of identified students
- To work with students who have been in receipt of initial targeted support to ensure that their progress is sustained and transferred to their wider learning.
- To attend team meetings within the identified subject area where applicable, and other meetings as necessary to perform the remit of this post.
- To support the transition of students with low levels of academic performance from previous schools.
- To engage with, through training and planning, the work of a core and extended team of teaching assistants and one to one tutors.
- To liaise with parents where appropriate.
- To carry out any additional responsibilities appropriate to the position as agreed with the line manager.
Responsibility for Supporting AUSEAT
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you come into contact with.
- Be a co‑tutor, when assigned, and as such, be responsible for carrying out the duties as set down in the generic tutor job description under the direct supervision of the lead tutor.
- Support and promote the Academy ethos and contribute to the overall aims of the Academy.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
- Participate in training and performance development as required.
- Carry out any other reasonable request of the Principal commensurate with the grading of the post.
