Job summary

LaraBench in Hadleigh, UK, is seeking a PHP/Laravel Developer to join a small, established team. You’ll work on existing codebases, implement features, and contribute to API development in a modern AI-enabled environment.

The role is hybrid, with two days per week at the Hadleigh office and three days from home. Ideal for developers with 2+ years of commercial PHP experience, strong Laravel or Symfony skills, and a desire to learn and grow with the team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong PHP experience.
• Experience with Laravel and/or Symfony.
• JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• MySQL or similar relational databases.
• RESTful API development and integration.
• Git/GitHub for version control.
• Understanding of secure web development practices.
• Awareness of OWASP and common web application vulnerabilities.
• Experience with Claude Code, Anthropic or other AI coding assistants would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining applications using PHP and Laravel.
• Building new functionality and improving existing applications.
• Developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Working with JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Working with MySQL and relational databases.
• Using Git/GitHub for version control.
• Working within Linux-based environments.
• Using Claude Code and AI-assisted development tools.
• Reviewing, adapting and improving AI-generated code.
• Writing clean, maintainable and secure production code.
• Identifying and addressing common web application security vulnerabilities.
• Collaborating closely with an experienced development team.
