Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP Engineer to join a technology company based in Fareham. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining high‑quality web applications and internal systems with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.

Initially, office‑based for three months, transitioning to hybrid work. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, apply Agile/Scrum and TDD practices, and contribute to greenfield projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in PHP development and related technologies. Essential qualifications include a minimum of PHP 5+ proficiency, solid understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP), and experience working with MySQL databases. Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable web applications and backend systems in a fast‑paced environment. Your duties will include collaborating with cross‑functional teams to plan and develop new features, optimizing existing systems for performance and security, and ensuring code quality through rigorous testing and reviews. You will contribute to the development of Greenfield projects, leveraging the latest PHP and web technologies to deliver innovative solutions. Additionally, you will assist with data migration, system support, and maintenance of security and storage services. Embracing Agile practices, you will participate in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement and timely delivery of projects. Your role will also involve mentoring junior developers and promoting best coding practices within the team.
