Phlebotomy Department Overview

The Phlebotomy Department based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) is part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA), a managed Pathology network involving NNUH, the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn.

Role Summary

The Phlebotomy department is responsible for the provision of a phlebotomy service at NNUH only. This covers provision of daily ward based phlebotomy on a 7 day per week basis as well as outpatient phlebotomy on the NNUH site. Supporting the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

This is a full time substantive opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a busy hospital department in a leadership role. We are specifically looking to appoint a candidate from a nursing back ground who will be able to apply your clinical skills to support the phlebotomy service and build your leadership skills in managing a busy service.

Responsibilities

The post holder will act as technical and operational lead for Phlebotomy at NNUH, to be the primary point of contact for technical and clinical advice and expertise for Phlebotomy. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure the provision of a high quality phlebotomy service organising the service and liaising with multiple users of the service across the Trust. The phlebotomy manager is line manager for a team of approximately 40 people as well as responsible to coordinating a sub team of approximately 10 bank staff.
