Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a PRN phlebotomist to draw blood samples, verify records and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

You may prick a finger, take vital signs and interview donors, screening blood donors at the blood bank. Education: High School Graduate or GED is required; Phlebotomist certificate preferred; BLS required before seeing patients.

This is an as-needed position with at least 12 hours bi-weekly, hours may vary by unit needs.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED is required.
• Licenses/Certification: Phlebotomist certificate is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required before seeing patients.

• Draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
• May prick finger to draw blood.
• May conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank
