Job description

We are looking for a enthisiastic, motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide a high quality phlebotmy service to our pateints.

Main duties of the job
  • To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by clinicians, GPs and other health professionals.
  • To collect blood samples safely.
  • To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly, and sent in a timely and correct manner.
  • Desirable : Be able to preform stitch removals, dressing changes, INR checks and give different injections such as B12, flu, shingles etc
About us

Beauchief Medical Practice is the new practice name of what were formerly two well and long-established GP practices in Sheffield serving S8 and S17 areas i.e. Abbey Lane Surgery and Totley Rise Medical Centre.

We have a friendly team consisting of 25 members of staff.

Job responsibilities

A successful applicant must be able to:

To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by GPs, clinicians and other health professionals.

To collect blood samples safely.

To produce accurate labelling on all samples containers using legible handwriting, ensuringstrict attention to detail for the purpose of guaranteeing samples are labelled with correctpatient details.

To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly and sent in a timely and correct manner.

Demonstrate a courteous, sympathetic, compassionate and helpful approach to patients,relatives and visitors at all times.

Has knowledge and understanding of the needs of the patient.

Has undertaken a recognised assessors course for venepuncture.
