Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Phlebotomist to join our friendly GP surgery team. The role involves providing high-quality phlebotomy services for our patients in a supportive and well-organised environment.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a health care or clinical setting, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venepuncture on patients in line with clinical guidance and infection control standards.
  • Ensure samples are correctly labelled, recorded, and prepared for collection by the laboratory.
  • Accurately update patient records on the clinical system (EMIS).
  • Maintain equipment, stock levels, and cleanliness of the phlebotomy area.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
  • Provide reassurance and information to patients, ensuring dignity, privacy, and comfort at all times.
  • Report any abnormal findings, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate clinician or manager.
  • Adhere to all practice policies, including infection control, health and safety, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

Job responsibilities

To provide a high-quality and efficient phlebotomy service to patients registered at the practice, supporting the clinical team in the delivery of safe and effective care. The postholder will work independently to collect blood samples from patients, ensuring accurate labelling, recording, and timely dispatch of specimens to support diagnosis and ongoing clinical care.
