Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Outpatients department to provide a Phlebotomy service within the Main Outpatients Department at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The service will cover clinics and drop‑in requirements of patients within our locality, and there is also a requirement to run satellite clinics within local GP practices. The successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Responsibilities
  • Draw samples as per best practice standards
  • Positively identify patients as per trust policy
  • Adhere to standards of infection prevention and control
  • Transport samples safely to the laboratories
  • Work off‑site within local GP practices with an expectation to be able to travel

Full training will be given within the Trust and competence assessment will be required.

Training

The Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff.

After completing these one and a half days of training, you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. The training programme includes a range of additional in‑house courses and bite‑size programmes through the Leadership and Improvement Team.

DBS Clearance

It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust and require a DBS clearance for the post have to pay the cost of their DBS. The cost is deducted from the first month’s pay.
