Invicta Health CIC is recruiting for a part-time phlebotomist to perform venepuncture across three Kent surgery sites. The role is 20 hours per week, following strict practice guidelines and protocols, and involves working with direct referrals from GPs and clinicians.

Responsibilities include obtaining blood samples, identifying patients, accurate labeling, maintaining the cold chain, and supporting the administrative team. NHS Pension and development opportunities are offered.

Aufgaben

• Ensuring the patient is comfortable and confirms consent for blood sample collection
• Collection of blood samples in accordance with training and procedures
• Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
• Check patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirm with patient
• Record collection of blood sample in patient record per practice procedure and dispatch samples promptly
• Notify GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
• Liaise with administrative team
• Report clinical or environmental issues of concern and take corrective action
• Ensure compliance with Practice Policies and Procedures; monitor fridge temperatures to maintain cold chain
• Check and restock GP rooms regularly

Job summary

This is a part time role, of 20 hours per week, working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP, Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Nurse & qualified clinicians.

This role will be worked across 3 surgery sites: Martello Health Centre, Church Lane Surgery and Orchard House Surgery.

Main duties of the job

• Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their consent to the collection of a blood sample
• Collection of sample(s)s of blood in accordance with training and procedures Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
• Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
• Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
• Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
• Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
• Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
• Report any clinical or environmental issues of concern and take action to rectify these where appropriate
• Ensure a working knowledge and compliance with Practice Policies and Procedures Check and record fridge temperatures to maintain the cold chain
• Check and re-stock GP rooms regularly
• Understand the importance and adhere to infection control issues Keep clinical areas clean and free from clutter.
