The University of Essex invites applications for a fully-funded ARIES studentship examining coral recovery after bleaching. You will work in the Essex Coral Reef Research Unit, using non-invasive imaging such as light-sheet microscopy and optical coherence tomography to track symbiont dynamics during recovery.

• Any biological sciences degree or related discipline.
• Interest in marine biology and mechanistic research.
• Willingness to learn new imaging methods and experimental techniques.

Responsabilidades

• Investigate coral recovery after bleaching using non-invasive imaging.
• Design and run experiments in a research aquarium with collaboration from industry partners.
• Analyse 3D imaging datasets and other sensor data to understand factors influencing recovery.
• Communicate findings to academic and non-academic audiences.
