Lubrizol is seeking a Data Scientist/Statistician Intern (PhD level) at our Hazelwood site near Derby, UK. You will join the Data Science & Statistics team to work on analytics systems, virtual experimentation, optimization, and knowledge discovery to accelerate product development and mobility solutions.

The internship lasts about 12-16 weeks, with project work ranging from predictive modeling to cheminformatics, forecasting, and AI-driven methods.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a PhD program in statistics, data science, machine learning, or chemistry/chemical engineering with data science skills.
• Dual degree students are encouraged to apply.
• Strong data analysis, programming, and ML method knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Create predictive models by mining complex data.
• Implement and assess algorithms in R and Python.
• Research and operationalize new statistical/ML methods.
• Forecasting algorithms development.
• Cheminformatics modelling applications.
• Active learning for process optimization.
