Job summary

Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team on bank shifts. You will dispense medicines, support wards, and assist with discharge planning in a busy hospital environment.

GPhC-registered technicians with NVQ3 or equivalent are preferred; Oncology experience is desirable. The role offers private medical cover, flexible hours, wellbeing support, and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Dispense and prepare medicines accurately as per prescriptions.
• Supply medications to wards, theatres and outpatient departments.
• Assist in discharge planning with take-home medicines.
• Participate in ward activities, stock top-ups and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and nursing teams to ensure safe use of medicines.
• Help reduce medication waste through stock rotation and communication.

Pharmacy Technician (Bank) Mount Alvernia Hospital Bank Shifts Salary: Up to £23.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification) Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join their team of staff in the Pharmacy department.

Duties

• Dispense and prepare medicines accurately in accordance with prescriptions and legal requirements.
• Supply medications to wards, theatres, and outpatient departments, ensuring safe and timely distribution.
• Support discharge planning by preparing take-home medications and liaising with clinical teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in ward-based activities, including stock top-ups, medicines reconciliation, and patient counselling (within scope).
• Work closely with pharmacists and nursing teams to support safe and efficient use of medicines at ward level.
• Help identify and reduce medication waste through effective stock rotation and communication with clinical areas.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent qualification).
• Experience working in a hospital or healthcare pharmacy setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in Oncology is desirable.
