Thesuccessful candidate will play a key role in improving the quality of patientcare through effective medicines management, repeat prescribing processes andmedicine optimisation. You will supportthe primary care team, assist with medication reviews, contribute to safe and cost-effectiveprescribing while ensuring adherence to best practice

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician you will play a key role in improving the quality of patient care through effective medicines management, repeat prescribing processes and medicine optimisation. You will support the primary care team, assist with medication reviews, contribute to safe and cost-effective prescribing while ensuring adherence to best practice

Key Responsibilities

  • Repeat Prescribing
  • Manage repeat prescription requests, ensuring timely processing and clinical checks.
  • Maintain accurate records and liaise with patients about prescription queries.
  • Support GPs and clinicians in reviewing medication use.
  • Conduct medicines reconciliation after hospital discharge or care transfer.
  • Assist in long-term condition management by optimising medication regimes.
  • Provide information to patients about safe medicine use.
  • Handle medication-related queries and promote adherence.
  • Clinical Governance & Safety
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and prescribing safety initiatives.
  • Help practices meet Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling prescriptions.
  • Knowledge of medicines management, prescribing systems, and NHS processes.
  • Ability to work independently while accountable for safe practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Experience
  • Experience of working in general practice, community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy
  • Competence in using IT systems
  • Excellent communication skills with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web
