Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in Kingston upon Thames is seeking an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician for hospital settings. This role includes dispensing medicines to inpatients, supporting the Emergency Department, and opportunities for professional development. The ideal candidate will be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and willing to undertake further training. This position requires flexibility to work weekends and Bank Holidays.

Qualifications

  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Have completed or be willing to undertake training to become an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
  • To undertake training to support Practice Supervisor (PS) responsibilities where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense and supply accurately medicines to inpatients and support the medicines optimisation service.
  • Assess the requirements for medicines on wards and in departments.
  • Dispense prescriptions for individual patients ensuring accuracy.
  • Counsel patients on the safe use of medicines.
  • Rotate into the Emergency Department to support with dispensing.
  • Ensure wastage of medicines is minimized through correct stock rotation.
  • Support 7 day working including weekends, Bank Holidays and late duties.

Overview

Are you a Hospital Pharmacy Technician or a Community Pharmacy Technician interested in working in a hospital setting or wanting to develop in a new environment? This could be the role you have been looking for. We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team.

You will primarily be working in the inpatients dispensary with an opportunity to support the Emergency Department with dispensing, enhancing your current skills whilst developing new ones. You will also be given the opportunity to complete your Practice Supervisor Training (PS).

Responsibilities
  • Dispense and supply accurately medicines to inpatients and support the medicines optimisation service to the wards.
  • Assess the requirements for medicines on wards and in departments in accordance with agreed stock lists.
  • Dispense prescriptions for individual patients, ensuring that they are provided with the correct medicine, in the right form, in a timely manner.
  • Counsel patients on the safe use of medicines.
  • Rotate into the Emergency Department to support with the dispensing.
  • Ensure that wastage of medicines is minimised by correct stock rotation and correct storage.
  • To support 7 day working, you will be required to work at weekends, Bank Holidays and late duty according to rotas.
