Job summary
DoctorPA Secure LTD is seeking a registered Pharmacy Technician to join Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre's healthcare team. You will undertake medicines reconciliation, support medicines optimisation, and ensure safe dispensing in a secure environment under NHS England specifications.
We expect strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to medicines safety, audit processes, and high standards of record keeping.
Qualifications
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- NVQ Level 3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, especially with vulnerable patients.
- Commitment to medicines safety, audits, and accurate record-keeping.
Responsibilities
- Undertake medicines reconciliation for new receptions and transfers.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies with prescribers and external providers.
- Perform medication checks to optimise therapy and support adherence.
- Support Medicines Use Reviews and patient counselling.
- Provide guidance on in-possession medicines, side effects and correct use.
- Promote medicines safety, audit processes, and governance.

Campsfield House IRC is a secure facility currentlydesigned to accommodate up to 160 male residents in both single and dualoccupancy rooms. The centre houses a combination of time-served foreignnational offenders and immigration offenders while the Home Office arrangestheir removal from the UK.
Residents are not permitted to leave the centre or accessthe local area. Consequently, recreational, educational, healthcare, living,and faith-related facilities are provided entirely onsite.
The healthcare department provides a range of servicesincluding primary care, mental health, substance misuse, pharmacy, dental,optometry, physiotherapy, podiatry, and audiology delivered either by us or ourspecialist partners.
This role may be starting before we go live to providelocal support and help setting up.During this period, you will be helping prepare documentation, settingthe pharmacy up, going through the processes, ensure we have the right stock,and much more.
DrPA has been operating in secure environments since 2014 providingGeneral Practitioner services and we are now growing to provide a completehealthcare service Campsfield House IRC commissioned by NHS England. Undertakecomprehensive medicines reconciliation for new receptions and transfers,ensuring accurate and timely identification of current therapy, reducingmedication errors and wastage
Identifyand resolve discrepancies, liaising with prescribers, community pharmacies, andexternal healthcare providers as needed
Performmedication checks to optimise therapy, reduce polypharmacy, and supportadherence
Supportthe pharmacist in delivering Medicines Use Reviews (MURs) and patientcounselling to improve understanding and safe use of medication
Provideclear, individualised advice on in-possession medicines, side effects, andcorrect use
Recogniseand elevate signs of drug or alcohol withdrawal
Supportpatients with substance misuse concerns and those at risk of self-harm orsuicide, working closely with healthcare and IRC staff
Conductregular audits on prescribing, reconciliation, administration, and formularycompliance
Monitoruse of the allocated formulary, identifying opportunities for cost-effectiveprescribing
Provideaccurate data and insights for KPI and contract performance reports
Promoteand monitor medicines safety, ensuring compliance with controlled druglegislation and secure custody protocols.
Maintainmeticulous, contemporaneous records of all pharmacy activities.
Communicateeffectively with multidisciplinary teams, prison officers, and externalagencies, both verbally and in writing.
Participatein clinical meetings and governance activities to drive continuous improvementin pharmacy services
Takedirection from the pharmacist and chief pharmacist to support servicedevelopment
Functionautonomously within your scope of competence while serving as a role model andresource to junior staff
Maintainup-to-date knowledge of best practice, guidelines, and professional standards.
