Job summary

Boots UK in Dunoon, Scotland is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to deliver patient‑centred service, advise patients and support the dispensary team. You will triage patients, stock management and work with the team to maintain high standards of care.

The role involves using pharmacy systems, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, with training provided where needed. DBS/PVG checks may apply depending on location.

Qualifications

• Registered with the relevant pharmacy regulator (GPhC, PSNI, PSI).

Responsibilities

• Providing expert, tailored advice to patients about available medicines and products.
• Delivering services according to store needs.
• Building strong relationships with the pharmacy team and coaching them to deliver high-quality care.
• Assisting with triage of patients and distribution of prescription handouts.
• Taking ownership for safe, legal and ethical decision-making in the pharmacy.
• Managing operational tasks like stock replenishment, workload, orders and handling controlled drugs.

What You’ll Be Doing

Our Pharmacy Technicians make a real difference by delivering outstanding patient-centred service to the communities we serve; from triaging patients, to inspiring and coaching the healthcare team, and providing expert technical advice on the supply of medicines.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing expert, tailored advice to patients about available medicines, products or Macmillan Cancer Support.
• Delivering various services dependant on the store needs.
• Building great relationships with your pharmacy team; coaching and inspiring them to deliver the highest standard of care.
• Assisting with the triage of patients and distributing prescription handouts.
• Taking ownership for legal, safe and ethical decision-making in the pharmacy.
• Manage operational tasks including replenishing stock, workload management, order fulfilment, receiving and handling controlled drugs whilst ensuring patient safety.

What You’ll Need To Have (our Must-haves)

• Registered with the relevant pharmacy regulator (GPhC, PSNI, PSI)
• A genuine excitement for coaching and leading a dispensary team
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

It would be great if you also have

Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician with checking capability - however this is not essential as training will be given.
