Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP YOI Moorland, a category C prison located in HMP YOI Moorland.

The location has good links for travel but due to its rural location, would ideally suit a driver. There is lots of opportunity for training and development, working in a close-knit, supportive and knowledgeable team.

Hours

37.5 hours working across 4 days, 9.5 hours shifts for 3 days and 9 hours on the 4th day. One in 4 weekends.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £40,211 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Provide outstanding quality based patient centred care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Focus on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards, involving anything from the timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
  • You will make a real difference by working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Qualifications required
  • NVQ Level 3, or above, BTEC or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up to date with Continual Professional Development (CPD)
  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience
  • General GCSE education or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
