About the role

If you were excited by new and innovative pharmacy systems design (such as 'Scan to Accuracy Check' and 'Assisted Due Date Dispensing') and are a registered pharmacy professional (either a technician or pharmacist) with a keen eye for safety and compliant operational process, you could apply to join our team in the Superintendent Pharmacist's Office.

The Pharmacy Systems Governance team has a vacancy for a Pharmacy Systems Governance Specialist (L6) who will be supporting development of the latest technologies to safeguard professional accountabilities and deliver effective solutions, driving both efficiency and safety.

The role reports into the Pharmacy Systems Governance Manager, who works for the Head of Pharmacy Systems Governance within the Superintendent Pharmacist's Office.

The role is accountable for identifying and championing patient safety opportunities in newly developed pharmacy systems and prompting system development and process design to maximise outcomes. Maintaining and where necessary initiating risk register activity with the goal of reducing the likelihood and/or severity of patient safety incidents and keeping each up to date and on track.

Key responsibilities
  • Development of pharmacy processes and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Investigation and determination of root cause of incidents
  • Risk Management processes
  • Delivering actions for the Patient Safety Strategy
  • Identifying opportunities where system improvements and innovations may improve patient safety and reduce risk
  • Data analysis of errors and generation of reports and presentations which summarise risk and opportunity for senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Working closely with central teams collaborating to drive the evolution of pharmacy practice through innovation
What you'll need to have
  • Experienced pharmacist or registered technician (ideally with a minimum of three years post-registration) with high personal credibility
  • Working knowledge of regulations applicable to pharmacy and provision of healthcare services including through digital media
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written with high attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt and to be flexible to meet the demands of the business with pace
  • Proven ability to understand complex concepts, analyse data and information from numerous sources and make recommendations to improve processes, reduce risk and increase safety and efficiency
  • Desire to lead, prioritise, organise, and manage a demanding personal workload (and that of his/her team) with appropriate pace whilst maintaining a consistently high quality of output
